Meet Kurt Lind

A Water Professional and Longtime Aliso Viejo Resident

Kurt Lind is a water industry professional, longtime Aliso Viejo resident, and Moulton Niguel Water District ratepayer. He is running for the MNWD Board to strengthen accountability, protect water-supply reliability, and help keep service affordable.

Kurt has spent more than 20 years working at Mesa Water District in Costa Mesa. Throughout his career, he has focused on the systems and practices that allow a public water agency to operate efficiently, manage public funds responsibly, and provide dependable service to its customers.

His candidacy is grounded in a straightforward belief: ratepayers should receive reliable, high-quality water at the lowest practical cost, and the people responsible for delivering that service should be transparent and accountable.

Guided by a personal commitment to serving others, Kurt will work to ensure that MNWD's resources are managed carefully and faithfully for the benefit of every ratepayer.

Community Leadership

Kurt is the Water Business Manager in the Office of the General Manager at Mesa Water District in Costa Mesa, California. He supports the District’s mission of delivering 100% local, reliable, clean, and safe water to 110,000 customers across Costa Mesa, a portion of Newport Beach, and unincorporated areas including John Wayne Airport.

Lind has served Mesa Water for over 20 years. He reports within the Office of the General Manager and works closely with executive leadership, finance, operations, customer service, and the Board of Directors.

His portfolio centers on accountability, operational efficiency, and independent oversight—functions he has described as uncommon in local government and focused on value for ratepayers. He oversees information technology services and a program of independent audits covering customer service, information technology, environmental health and safety, and process and performance. He regularly presents audit findings and related recommendations to the Board and has led process improvement initiatives in IT support, customer information systems, infrastructure, and performance metrics.

Lind also serves as Assistant Treasurer of Mesa Water, a position to which he was appointed by the Board and which carries delegated financial authority under District practice and the California Water Code.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Fullerton. Lind is very involved in his local community having served on MNWD’s Citizens Advisory Committee, as a Board Member for the Aliso Viejo Community Association and Aliso Viejo Little League, and was appointed Planning Commissioner for the City of Aliso Viejo. He currently serves as a volunteer umpire for Aliso Viejo Little League, supporting fairness and positive experiences for local youth. He lives in south Orange County and has said that family life as a husband and father is central to who he is outside of work.
